Materials and Construction
A screen-printed or heat-transferred t-shirt carries its design as a layer on the fabric surface, which can crack, fade, or peel with repeated washing, especially at high-friction points like a chest logo. Sublimation bonds the ink into the polyester fibers during printing, so the design ages the same way the fabric does. Sublimation requires a polyester or poly-blend fabric, which is why a sublimated tee uses a poly-blend rather than 100 percent cotton. Sublimated t-shirts are often a smaller order than a full uniform kit, for a one-off tournament design or a fundraiser run, and go through the same sample-approval process regardless of order size.
